Restaurant Week 2012: Rose Veranda @ Shangri-La

Day out with my very very precious mummy (: We’re huge on chilling out for long periods of time and spending quality mother-daughter time out of the house. So we decided to book Rose Veranda on a day I didn’t have lesson, and it was a great choice 🙂

There are roses everywhere!! Happy girl.

Sushi rice was well-seasoned and the vinegar taste came through in every bite. Also loved the quality ingredients used – the piece at the back contains soft shell crab!

Char siew bao (SO GOOD it’s from Shang Palace), roast beef sandwich, mushroom quiche (most buttery pastry ever), parma ham and melon (so sweet) and a tandoori chicken roll. Some of my mum’s favourite items!

As you can see, there are repeats of the favourite items. In addition, there’s har kow, caesar salad and salad with balsamic vinegar. Appreciate how they give you the freshest vegetables ever. The item in the glass bowl is smoked salmon, which was great too.

Roast lamb with mushroom/ herb sauce. Tender! But I don’t fancy lamb.

My mum really liked the quiche HAHA. Grilled fish with tomato sauce, roasted vegetables and feta cheese, fried prawns with sweet sauce. All tasty!!

Lots of desserts to choose from. Selection was really awesome and what matters was that everything was tasty.

Chocolate fondue, fruits, scones, ice-cream

Carrot cake, green tea cake, chocolate brownie, raspberry tart. These 4 babies were SUPER SUPER GOOD. Bite sized pieces of heaven. Carrot cake was perfectly moist and chock full of walnuts. Cream cheese layer was thick and satisfying. Green tea cake was fragrant and not too sweet. Brownieeeee was pretty intense. And the tart! Loved their buttery pastry and custard.

So good it deserved a photo by itself. That’s my tea in the background. Can’t remember what I took but you have 125 teas to choose from. Go crazy from choosing. I like the earl greys because they’re strong in flavor.

DESSERTTTTTS. Delicious sweet strawberries, grapes, creme brûlée, chocolate truffles and peach cheesecake.

Choux puffs, cookies, assorted nonya kueh, tiramisu, green tea prune cake, durian roll… NEVER-ENDING

Durian sponge with durian pulp! Good stuff. Crushed nuts and whole hazelnuts to go along with ice cream. Carrot cake and tiramisu!

Some photos of the place! Very posh and super chill atmosphere. It was a great environment for mother and daughter bonding. Plus during restaurant week, everything is so affordable. Lunch here costed $25++ per head.
