Carpenter & Cook @ Lorong Kilat

I was really excited when I heard that this place opened! Always appreciate good food places which are around my area. Plus Lorong Kilat already has lots of good food – Kim’s Family Restaurant for Korean and Udders for ice-cream thereafter. Prata places and Bukit Timah Food Centre is also within walking distance.

Don’t you just love the plates??? Soooo pretty and makes tea such an exciting affair. Totally jazzes up the food.

Apple Cobbler Cake ($5.00). It may look tiny but it fills you up quite nicely. Very light hints of apple, topped with almond flakes for added crunch. Nothing much to fault!

Passionfruit meringue tart ($6.20). Their tarts are quite pricey hahaha especially when these babies are relatively simple to make… but the filling was tangy and of a smooooth consistency. Not a fan of meringues but it is a nice companion to the tart passionfruit.

Mushroom and Ham Brioche ($6.50). Please get them to warm it up for you! Brioche was incredibly soft and sweet. Would have preferred more filling on it because I was staaaarving, but this fares well compared to many other cafe’s food, so I’m not complaining. One of the best brioche buns I’ve had in Singapore!

The savouries include quiches, sandwiches and brioches.

Scones, tea cakes, brownies, tarts! Good and tasty variety to choose from yummm.

We would have ordered the chocolate salted caramel tart to try, but it wasn’t out when we ordered! I remember the smells wafting out of the kitchen though, when they just finished baking those buttery tart shells mm.

I didn’t get too many photos of the decor, but I really love this place! It has so much character. Every nook and cranny is different and pretty. Not to mention the food here is goooooood. I enjoyed every item we ordered! And it’s not the standard fare you find at every other cafe. Prices are on the steep side, but it’s really a pretty place to hang around. Will be back.
