Necessary Provisions @ Eng Kong Terrace

IMG_1956

My brother has flown off to pursue his studies overseas! Ever since I’ve been back, we’ve been telling each other we’ll go out to eat and explore new places before we leave, but for a myriad of reasons, we just kept postponing! Thank God we managed to have a couple of meals together in the last two weeks before he left.

Necessary Provisions is opened by the owners of Smitten Coffee and Tea Bar! They’re also the ones behind Henry Congressional, that cute pop-up at Henry Park Apartments, which is now gone because they had to en-bloc. Boo.

Anyway, coffee here is a flat rate of $5. Pick between black or white, and then your size: 4oz, 6oz, 8oz. Reminds me of Nylon Coffee Roasters! Got the 8oz one, but I’ll go for the smaller ones next time for stronger coffee.

Honestly I didn’t really fancy the range of bakes available. Range didn’t impress and it was rather pricey for the small pieces.

This place is rather dim and very very woody! Mostly black, which made me feel a little gloomy that day. But it is cosy and comfortable in its way, and definitely shelters you from the burning hot sun outside! I should take more photos of places rather than my food alone teehee. Think I definitely enjoy visiting cafes more on the weekdays than on weekends, so I can fully soak up the atmosphere and actually relax at the place rather than having to raise my voice over cuppas.

I’ve heard good things about the pandan chiffon cake, the savoury scones and the iced espresso with milk! Might go back to try and will update this space again!

Drive here please! Or you’ll have a bit of trouble walking in from the bus stop, especially on a hot hot day.
