Friends and I talked about visiting this place for over a year, but we never got around to doing it because we are way too used to our comfort zone in the West. Finally got there recently, in part due to Shrove Tuesday not appealing to us and there being a 20% off on that afternoon as discovered on their Facebook page!
There wasn’t much left when we got there, and we got our hands on what was left. I LOVE how there’s a wooden bookshelf that’s absolutely packed with gorgeous, colourful cookbooks, magazines and various other lookbooks. I could sit there and browse those very irresistible books all day.
Rose cake with raspberry cream cheese frosting and caramelised pistachios ($5.50). This screams PRETTY!!!! I enjoyed it – it was light and refreshing, cream cheese wasn’t too heavy and pistachios are always welcome. Comforting combination!
Earl Grey Lemon Loaf ($3.50). Earl grey tea cake with lemon drizzle icing. Earl grey came through for me, though we could always use more earl grey don’t we. Texture was crumbly, not too dry for me, and easy to finish.
And as you can tell, the books there are really photogenic, and what you see above are just the covers. We had fun pretending to be cool stylists.
I’ll come back early in the morning to check out the full spread of very decent and hearty homemade cakes!
